Christmas Wishes

I want to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and all the best in 2010. I will be taking a break from blogging starting tomorrow until sometime in the New Year. Hubby saw a specialist because he is having problems with his heart and lungs. The specialist has booked him for a hospital visit in the New Year. They are flying in medicine from Europe and so we have to wait until the New Year in order to give them time to get it here and prepare. We feel that we need to relax and take a break. I appreciate all the lovely comments, thanks for taking the time to visit me and I'll see you sometime in the New Year when things get settled down.

The Sound of Bells

Fifteen years ago, I wanted a Nativity, but there were none to be found in the stores. So we took a walk in our neighbourhood and collected small twigs and used some cardboard for the roof and covered it with moss to make a manager. I happened to find some figures and we made our nativity. It has such memories for us and we love and treasure it even though over the years it is looking worn. I cannot seem to get a good picture of it to show you, did the best I could, so please forgive the poor quality. It is quite a good sized one and resizing it down made it hard to see the details.
The Nativity is such an important part of Christmas for us. I wanted to share with you a wonderful site where you can join and download fabulous Creches. You print them out and hang them as ornaments on your tree. People from around the world are generous and share creches. I thought you might like to have the link so that you can also download some creches. The link is http://www.crechmania.com

Our United Church presents a Bell Ringing Concert every year. They ring the hand bells, each with its own melody and they present an evening of Christmas Carols. They are very beautiful to hear and I love to attend, however, this year the temperatures have kept us from attending. Since I couldn't attend the concert this year, I made a hand ringers bell like they use in their concert.

Quick Answer

One comment mentioned that they didn't find the "V" letter for the xmas alphabet and thought I had left it out. Just a quick note, the V is in the Part 6 download of the letters with the letter W. The full alphabet is complete and available. So I hope this will assist you in locating the "V".

It is really bitter here this morning. Snowing again (same old news), and cold temps but with the wind chill, we are at -40C this morning. Not going to stick my nose out of the door today. I do so love to see blogs where people put up pics of their green xmas. It must be wonderful to have green grass at xmas.

Thanks for such lovely comments, I do hope that you all can locate the full alphabet and if you have any problems please leave me a comment and I'll try to help. Have a good weekend. I hope to get a little something made over the weekend.

Xmas Alphabet Part 8

Well, it's snowing again! Oh well, at this point what's another inch or two of the white stuff.

Here we are already at the conclusion of the Xmas Alphabet. T is for Tree, and U is for Carolers Singing in Unison. That U was really a tough one to come up with something for. Someone posted an idea that Families Unite at Xmas and that gave me the idea. I thank you all so much for the help you gave me by posting ideas, there were some creative suggestions. Also posting the final batch, X is for Xmas Day, Y is for Yule Log and Z is for ZZZ's (the children were nestled all snug in their beds). I thank you for visiting me and downloading the alpha, great to see the wonderful comments and welcome to the new followers who joined. Hope you find good use for the alpha.

I'm working on some new projects now and will share more soon. I notice that I'm soon coming up to my 100th post so watch for something special on that one. Have a lovely day!

Xmas Alpha Part 7

We're warming up! Today we can feel the change in the temps, warmed to -14C and that's a nice change from -32C. I hope it warms up enough that I can take the camera out and get some pics of the xmas lites. I thought I'd share with you a couple of my painted items that I hang up at xmas. I love decorative painting and used to attend the xmas fairs where I sold my work. Happy to say I sold out completely every year I went, there were very few items that I actually had time to make for our own home. I no longer attend the fairs, my eyes aren't up to the workload anymore. In the new year both hubby and I will be getting our eyes checked and new glasses.

This sign hangs on the inside of my front door. It is made from a piece of canvas floor cloth material that I had left over and a few twigs that I gathered in the neighbourhood with the addition of a few berry sprays that I bought. My neighbour Anita collects snowmen, so this year I'm painting her a snowman sign for xmas.

This heart shaped sign is of a Victorian girl reaching for a sprig of holly. Painted on mdf board, I hope you can see her frosty breath. I plan to add some lace edging around the heart, but just haven't had time to get to a store yet to purchase any.

I plan in the new year to get back to doing some decorative painting again after we get new glasses.

Here is the next part of the xmas alphabet, Q is for Quiet, R is for Reindeer and S is for Snowflakes. Tomorrow I will post the XYZ and hopefully the T and U, completing the full alphabet. I am so happy to see that so many people are enjoying this alphabet and I hope you find many uses for it. Love to hear from you, thanks for the lovely comments.

Have a great day!

Xmas Alphabet Part 6 and Sm Letters

The stores are so crowded and busy, I'm glad to be back home. I'm going to go a little out of order here and give all the Small Letters for the alphabet so you can spell out any words you wish to and also the download for the W and V. I will post the Q,R and S tomorrow and the remaining letters the day following, so before we know it all the letters will be uploaded and the alphabet completed.

Download Here

I put all the small letters in a plastic display bag, but really don't care for it as the letters look so faded by the plastic bag covering. All the small letters A to Z are in the one zip file.

Xmas Alpha Part 5

This was just one of those days, everything I touched went wrong. We decided not to go out today as our temp is -32C with daytime high of -22C. Tomorrow we are going to warm up to -18C, so we're going out shopping then. The car is plugged in and warming overnite so we will be sure to be able to start in the morning.

Our neighbour Anita was out shovelling behind her garage today while Hubby was out touching up our driveway. She was warming her car while she cleared the snow from behind her garage door. Hubby hears this POP like a gunshot and it is Anita backing her car out of her garage. The car tires were frozen to the cement floor in the garage. She might have a lost a little rubber off her tires when she backed out. Wow, now that is COLD!

I thought I'd bake a fruit loaf today for tea time. It was turning out lovely, but waiting an hour while it bakes is a long time for me to do nothing, so I got busy on the computer. Well you can guess what happened. If it hadn't been for our son saying how good that smells and how long is that supposed to cook Mom, it might have been charcoal. Rescued most of it, just trimmed off the bottom and ends and the rest of the loaf is good and disappearing at a rapid rate. Gosh it is hard to bake in the kitchen and play on the computer at the same time.

Everything I tried to do on the computer today just wouldn't work out. I thought I would get the letter U finished, but it is just one of those days. Well, tomorrow is another day.

Here is the Xmas Alphabet N, O and P.
